I’m trying to convert a DVD file from a music video disc to M4V (for iTunes). I used the “Split by chapters” feature and after I converted the file, the audio lags behind the video. It works when I convert it to the AVI file. What can I do?

You could try Any Video Converter instead. It has fix the bugs of video sync problem. What’s more, it has a lot of funny features beyond other video converters.

Unfortunately, AVS Video Converter doesn’t work properly with M4V files or any other video format developed by Apple. In order to solve your problems, I suggest you try updating the program to the latest version. Also, you can use the contact form from the official web page to get in touch with the developer. Alternatively, in order to convert your DVD files, you can try other utilities from the Software Informer database.

I have recently upgraded to a new desktop PC operating Windows 10. My previous PC was Windows 7. I have used the AVS4YOU video converter, licensed version, since 2009. I now have a new licensed version on my new Windows 10 PC. On my new PC, the conversion section of the process still takes about the same time, but the writing to a -RW Verbatim disk has blown out from less than 15 minutes to in excess of 1 and a ½ hour. Can you explain why this is so?

The first thing to check in AVS Video Converter is the option to burn the DISCS. And by that I mean to check the writing speed, because with the installation of a new operating system, it’s possible that the settings might be messed up or reverted to default and now the software is writing DVDs at the lowest speed possible.
Another possibility is that the software lacks compatibility with the operating system. Convert the video as you need, and then install another program that can write DVDs in Windows 10.
For example, you can use Ashampoo Burning Studio Free: https://www.ashampoo.com/en/usd/pin/7110/burning-software/burning-studio-free

I want to edit videos. Can you help?

Here is a link to various video tutorials available. You can use the help menu in the software.

In order to edit your videos, launch the software, press the Browse option to open your file and click the Edit tab. The video that you loaded will appear on the timeline. From the Video Effects lists (Adjust, Special, Effect, Transform, Draw) select an effect you want to apply and drag it to the timeline. After that, select the area to which you’d like to apply your effect and configure the effects parameters from the Properties menu. You can do the same with the audio effects. For further information, I suggest you check the tutorial provided by the developer.

I have sound issues. It says to repair speakers and that I should go to Sound Settings to increase sound.

When you have sound problems, the first thing to do is to check the driver and the software. Go to Device Manager (Start > Run > devmgmt.msc) and then make sure that everything is installed properly. As a suggestion, right click the sound device and choose Disable, then go to the Sound Settings in the System Tray and make sure that everything is set up in terms of sound connections, mute settings, etc.

I just bought AVS Video Converter. When I’ve converted a file, there is no sound on the film. What am I missing? Can you give me a direct URL to the Audio Codec which I am obviously missing? Thanks in advance. Sincerely, Jan Iversen.

AVS Video Converter should have all the codecs needed for most file formats but in case you’re missing the audio encoder/decoder, download ffdshow as it’s the most common audio/video encoder/decoder available. If you want advanced tools then Combined Community Codec Pack is the way to go as it has everything for decoding or encoding video and audio files.

Does the problem persist when you convert a particular file/files of a particular format/every file?
If this is a certain file or files from the same source, please open one of them in AVS Video Converter, choose the preset, then click on Advanced > File Information and attach a screenshot of this window.
Have you tried playing the converted files in different players?
When you preview the source file in AVS Video Converter (in Edit window) is there sound?
Hope to hear from you soon.

Can the video converter be invoked from the command line?

No, the application cannot be invoked from a command line since it’s using a graphical user interface only. You can start it from a BAT file but that means calling the whole application, not its functions.

  1. AVS Video Converter is a useful and compatible tool both for professionals and general use…I had little difficulty working with this program mainly due to its friendly interface! Many of my videos or films were incompatible with my LG Smart TV so I had to convert them…piece of cake with AVS Video Converter!

  2. Unless I really missed something, I am at a lose? Pleas let me know and I will retry with second ISO.

  3. Still having problems with AVS with VOB, but seems to work well with other formats. Also has a better effects editor than Freemake but I still use my Nero for these.

  4. Take advantage of this opportunity to get 25% off on AVS Video Converter. Don’t miss out this mystery offer at IfCoupons.

  5. Cacheman 5.50 is free, and in my experience it works better than the newer (and not free) Cacheman XP.
