After you install the program on your Mac, it will automatically import sample files from several monitored folders (these directories are created after you install the app). You can change the destination of these directories. Simply go to File -> Add/Remove Media from Library and choose the folders for each category of files (music, videos, etc.). An advantage is the fact that you can convert the imported files between multiple media formats. What’s more, the program lets you preview your photos in slideshow mode, watch movies with attached subtitles, play music, etc. The only bad thing I have to say about this utility is that it occasionally runs slow, especially when starting video playback.

System Requirement:

  • 1 GHz processor (2.6Ghz recommended for video playback)
  • 1 GB RAM
  • 200 MB hard-disk space for program installation

I downloaded Media Go 2.4 to my Xperia Z Tablet, but I can’t open it. When I click on it, it says “the file cannot be opened”. Do I need to download something else first for 2.4 to work on my tablet?

Media Go is an application that is installed on Windows operating systems. You can’t open it using your phone because Android doesn’t recognize Windows installers as being recognized or supported files. You need to install Media Go on the PC then use it to synchronize it with tablet.

Android will never recognize this application since it’s not available in the APK format, therefore it will display the error message. You need to install Media GO on your computer, then you can use the application to perform sync operations.

My Windows 10 computer no longer recognizes my Walkman. It did a few weeks ago. I did the trouble shooting suggested by the YouTube video. I just bought this in 2017 to replace an older Sony. Please help.

You might have to apply a firmware upgrade before using on Windows 10. On the official website, they state that the firmware is compatible with Windows 10 operating system.
Access the following website to read about the compatibility, requirements and general firmware flashing for the NW-E394 device.
As a tip, try disabling Driver Enforcement if you have drivers to install. Here’s how to do it: Start > Settings > Update and Recovery > Recovery > Advanced Startup > Restart > Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Press key 7 > Restart.

How can I alphabetize the titles of my playlists in Media Go and in my walkman?

I’ve installed Media Go and created a playlist, then I’ve added files and sorted the playlist from A to Z based on Artist. Afterwards, I used right click on the left tree menu on the playlist and exported the file to a directory. I’ve loaded the file on Winamp and it appeared exactly how I sorted the files.
This is the only way to alphabetize it. If the Walkman has auto sorting, then you have to disable this feature from its settings.

Are there any plans to be able to create Smart playlists? I would like to create a playlist that will hold the date sequence and get automatically updated as new podcasts are added or removed with an option to sync the podcast. Is it possible?

This is a request that relates to the way iTunes works. According to a user on the Sony forums, what you’re asking is not possible. It can be done with iTunes, but you can’t do it for Media GO or the Sony device (if you own one). If you want to read more about it, access the Sony forums.

  1. The Network Downloader is a part of the whole Media Go Package and can’t be installed separately (as I understand). The version number is not the same as the Media Go number and is flagged erroneously as not up-to-date! Even in newest Media Go 2.8, the Network Downloader has version number 1.5.

  2. Transfer to removable media at your own risk (and by the seat of your pants). It would have been so easy to provide a step-by-step guide, but instead, there are huge holes in the skimpy user’guide. While the program says it allows for backup to CD’s, it fails to tell you how to do it. After trial and eror, I discovered the method (after verifying that the images I had made to disk were good and before transferring the images to CD) and breezed through 22 CD’s in something over an hour plus, with the program nicely prompting me when to remove and put in the next blank CD etc., only to find after I had completed the whole process, that all of the CD files were corrupted. Whoever wrote the manual should bo back to shipping and receiving or wherever they found him.

  3. nothing that bothers, bit slow but at least the end result is better by far than any of the faster convertors
